Practical Info

Schedule

Crean Folk Camp runs from 10am on Monday 24th June until Saturday 29th June 2024 with an informal concert at Mazey Day in Penzance for Gollowan. All are also welcome to join us from the preceding Sunday 23rd and stay until the following Sunday 30th.

Staying a little later is particularly recommended as the gathering is timed to coincide with local summer solstice festival of Golowan in Penzance.

Hanger CurtainsAccommodation & Living

Camping with tents is free onsite with full amenities. You are also welcome to find accommodation elsewhere for the duration of the week. Participants at Crean Folk Camp live communally, cooking together, sharing the costs of groceries and catering for each other’s needs. We would like to encourage all who feel comfortable to lend a hand in the kitchen whether large or small. Alcohol is arranged on an individual basis.

Accessibility

We aim for full accessibility in our teaching and amenities with the goal to make persons of all abilities welcome. However we are still currently physically limited by the building and surrounding grounds. Level access is possible for the main teaching area and dining area, however toilet facilities require assistance. If you have particular needs that you would like to discuss then we would love to hear from you at mail@creanfolkcamp.org.

Location

Crean Folk Camp is located in the far west of Cornwall near Land’s end. The area is remote and costal with a mix of steep granite cliffs and white sandy beaches. We are nestled in a sheltered valley about 30 minutes walk from the sea.

Transport

Our valley is roughly 6 hours travel from London whether by rail or road. We encourage participants to use slow travel (i.e. by train, bus or boat rather than private transport or plane) wherever possible. The nearest railway station is Penzance. Regular services connect through the west-country to London Paddington (GWR) and north to Scotland (CrossCountry). Coaches are also available including the twice daily National Express route 504 from London via Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth. We can arrange pickup from Penzance with enough prior warning. Alternatively you can use local buses A1/A2/A3 and 1/1A or one of the taxi services such as Logan Rock Cars (01736 871 786) or Village Taxi (07703 112031).
